The Schier lab has been awarded a prestigious ERC advanced grant to fund work on the early embryogenesis on the non-model fish species killifish. While, the lab’s workhorse model, zebrafish, have organisational signals which pre-pattern the developing embryo, the killifish undergo embryogenesis in a self-organised manner. Insights we learn from how the killifish develops could help us understand self organisation in other models such as organoids. You can read more here
