Alex wins NIH Director's Pioneer Award

Alex is one of the recipients of the 2017 NIH Director's Pioneer Award for the project DNA-Mediated Recording of Cellular History

The project uses a technology Jamie and Alex developed with the Shendure lab at the University of Washington called GESTALT, which tracks the history and origin of cells through CRISPR-mediated genome editing events. Using the NIH Director's Pioneer Award, the Schier lab aims to (1) track the history of the cells in the zebrafish larval brain to generate a lineage map; (2) track the activation of different signaling pathways in the zebrafish embryo; (3) record the history of neuronal activation during zebrafish sleep/wake cycles.

Congratulations Alex!
