Michal's paper "A Massively Parallel Reporter Assay of 3' UTR Sequences Identifies In Vivo Rules for mRNA Degradation." has been published in Molecular Cell.
Michal designed a massively parallel reporter assay in which she cloned 90,000 different sequences onto the 3' UTR of zebrafish transcripts, and performed deep sequencing at multiple intervals to determine when each mRNA was degraded. By analyzing the kinetics of degradation, she identified the key sequences that determine degradation rates, and developed a regression model to predict mRNA decay patterns. This strategy can be used in other systems to determine the rules of RNA stability.
Congratulations Michal!
